Connie was born and raised in Midwest. After graduating first in her high school class, she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Purdue University in 2003, earning many scholarships, including the Outstanding Purdue Nursing Student of the Year Award, and was selected in the Mayo Clinic’s internship program. She then completed the Critical Care and Trauma Nurse Internship at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
Connie obtained her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University Chicago with a Certificate in Health Law in 2008, where she was an Honors at Entrance Scholar and a member of the Children’s Legal Rights Journal. She was a visiting student at the University of Tennessee, where she earned the CALI award in Gratuitous Transfers and Employment Law, and was a member of the Baker Journal of Applied Public Policy.
Connie began her law practice in Knoxville, Tennessee where she worked at a prestigious health law firm, representing physicians and health care providers in litigation and transactional matters, including drafting HIPAA plans and documents, employment agreements, and audit responses. Since moving to Texas in 2011, she has represented a wide variety of clients in pre-litigation and at trial in matters ranging from oil and gas litigation to personal injury.
Connie recently joined Benjamin, Vana, Martinez and Cano as a Partner and maintains a broad practice including the representation of design professionals and construction entities against potential and ongoing litigation involving breach of contract and construction defect allegations, defending health care professionals before the applicable State licensing agencies regarding investigations into ethical and professional misconduct, the defense of individuals and entities in personal injury lawsuits, and drafting and negotiating employment agreements on behalf of employers and employees. She maintains her license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
